Driver on road to recovery at last

-

ALL has turned out well now, but recovery took longer than a driver had hoped for after his car conked out on a busy steep hill and blocked traffic.

Long-time RAC member Christopher Hill called for help and then contacted the police, who cordoned off the area. But when delays removing the vehicle continued into the evening, Christopher had enough of being in a tight spot.

“I abandoned my vehicle just before midnight,” he said “and the police kindly took me home. Next morning my car was still there, apparently the recovery team had tried in the night but were unable to find it.

“I decided it was best if I got my local garage, who would do the repair, to collect it as well. I realise the demands on services, but this wasn’t good.”

Christopher braced himself for the £200 plus recovery bill, he told Crusader, but felt in the circumstances he shouldn’t have to foot it.

After we put his points to the RAC, which to be fair delivers for thousands of customers every day, it was quick to agree and has covered that cost and, in the light of his loyalty, included a year’s free membership too.

It’s a boom time again for nuisance calls as fraudsters adapt to lockdown with new technology. Latest figures from caller identity verification firm Hiya, suggest that more than one billion dodgy calls have been made in the UK so far this year.
