HAS THE BBC TURNED ITS BACK ON TRADITIONAL VIEWERS?

- Jenny Jones, Carlisle

Yes

NOW the BBC has decided not to produce programmes suitable for the older population, perhaps it should now no longer expect us to pay a fee (“Why older viewers deserve much better from blinkered BBC”, April 9).

Most programmes now shown on the BBC do not reflect our tastes and are aimed at the younger viewers.

The only time there is anything worth watching is when we see our favourite repeats. Surely the Government must stop the BBC from charging those aged 70 and over for a licence.

No

I MIGHT be in the minority here but I think the licence fee represents really good value for money.

For around £13 a month I get as much news, sport, drama, chat shows and absolute gems such as MasterChef as I can possibly watch. When you compare that fee to my £9.99 monthly Netflix subscription and the £19 I pay to Sky every month, it suddenly doesn’t look so ruinously expensive.

Of course, the BBC doesn’t get it right all the time but it is my broadcaster of choice.
