Sunday switch for Scottish National

- By David Yates

THE Coral Scottish Grand National has been put back to next Sunday as a mark of respect to the funeral of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

With the service taking place at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle at 3pm on Saturday, there will be no racing in Britain between 2.45pm and 4.15pm.

Prince Philip passed away at the age of 99 on Friday morning, and Coral’s Simon Clare said: “We are in full agreement to move the day of the race given the very sad circumstances.”

Newbury’s Dubai Duty Free Spring Trials card has also been moved to Sunday, while Saturday fixtures at Bangor and Thirsk will start earlier than scheduled. Evening cards at Brighton and Nottingham are set to take place as planned.

❑ BOLSHOI BALLET (left) was cut to 8-1 (from 20-1) with Paddy Power for the Cazoo Derby at Epsom on June 5 after a two-and-aquarter-length success in the Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown yesterday.
