BRADY SURPRISE FOR FINAU

- NEIL McLEMAN

TONY FINAU passed the time during the third-round rain delay by chatting to NFL quarterback Tom Brady.

Finau retreated to the caddie house after the dangerous weather warning. Augusta National member Jimmy Dunne was on the phone with the seven-time Super Bowl winner – and told Finau “somebody wants to talk to you”.

The Ryder Cup star, right, said: “That was a pleasant surprise. He said, ‘Great playing’. He was giving me some c*** about the weather and why we stopped. He said in the NFL when it rains you don’t stop. I let him know, ‘Yeah, maybe we’re not as tough as you guys,’ but he said, ‘No, that’s not the case’. We had a good laugh about that. It was cool he was following.” Finau met the Tampa Bay Bucs star in 2017 as he is friends with Brady’s trainer Alex Guerrero. He was not immediately inspired by the FaceTime call as he returned to the course to play his final 10 holes in level par to card a one-over third round of 73.
