Jenner: Biological boys who are trans shouldn’t compete in girls’ sports
CAITLYN Jenner believes transgender females should be banned from entering girls’ sports events at school.
The 71-year-old who before her transition in 2015 won a decathlon gold in the 1976 Olympics, said: “This is a question of fairness, that’s why I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls’ sports in school.
“It just isn’t fair and we have to protect girls’ sports in our schools.”
The question of girls and women – who were born male – competing in sports against biological females is controversial.
Critics say trans girls and women have an advantage as they are stronger with more testosterone than their competitors who were born female.
Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan publicly supported Ms Jenner.
He tweeted: “Good for her. Courageous and correct. If anyone understands how unfair it is, then it’s surely @ Caitlyn_ Jenner.” He added: “Yet she will be now be destroyed by the trans lobby for stating the obvious.” Mermaids, a UK charity which supports gender variant and transgender youth, expressed its “disappointment” in her remarks.
A spokesman said: “As someone with a trans history and sporting background she should know the facts.
“We need positive role models and education not exclusion and lazy scaremongering. Sport is for everyone.”
Before transitioning to being a woman, Ms Jenner was known as Bruce.
She was married three times and has six biological children, including Brandon, Brody, Kendall and Kylie.
In 2007 she began starring in reality series Keeping Up With The Kardashians, which featured her family life.
She recently announced her bid to run for Governor of California, drawing criticism from the trans community.
It says past actions were detrimental to trans rights, such as backing Donald Trump and claiming he supported trans rights.
