Pay Iranians £400m to get Nazanin home

I’VE BEEN talking to Richard Ratcliffe about his wife Nazanin ever since she was incarcerated by Iran. Originally Richard was told to keep quiet about it and the Government would sort it out. Thankfully he didn’t buy into that and so now we all know about this awful story.

I’m amazed and appalled that the idiots who are in control of Iran have been allowed to get away with this for so long. I feel so sorry for the Iranian people, who have had to put up with this dictatorship.

I’m also appalled that part of the reason for Nazanin’s detention is said to be that we owe the Iranians £400million for tanks they paid for and we gave to Iraq.

Conservative MP Tobias Ellwood has offered to be a mediator in this process but so far the Foreign Office has said nothing. But then, of course, none of their families is being held hostage.

Let’s give the money back.

Many other nations around the world have paid money that they didn’t necessarily owe to get their countrymen and women home, but we seem to do nothing. Forget the Americans, who apparently have been bringing pressure to bear on us to do nothing.

Other nations take no notice of them and we shouldn’t either.

If we pay the debt and the Iranians refuse to comply, then we should take stronger action. Otherwise these nutcases will begin to think they are winning a war that they cannot win in the 21st century.

You would think we could sort our differences out in a more intelligent way.
