Clarkson: 61 is a worrying age ...everybody I know dies at 61!

- By Mark Jefferies

JEREMY Clarkson fears he is about to die now he is 61 – as many of his closest friends and family did at that age, including his dad.

The former Top Gear presenter, whose birthday was last month, said: “Everyone I know dies at 61. All my friends did, my dad did, that’s when you go...if I make it to 62, I’ll be here forever.

“The weird thing is when dad died, I thought of him as an old man.”

Jeremy also revealed he feared the worse when he got Covid at Christmas.

He admitted: “I was worried because I’m overweight, I don’t smoke now but I have smoked half a million cigarettes and I’ve had double pneumonia. I’m a poster boy for bad Covid. I spent the first day googling, ‘Can you drink?’ and found one website that said you could. So I took a case of wine to the bedroom and some Bond films. In the end, it was very mild.” Now back to full fitness, the Who Wants to be a Millionaire? host told Saga magazine he “really objects” to stupid contestants winning big.

He said: “You get some halfwit who has just got quick fingers. Anyone can get to £8,000, then you phone a friend and get £16,000. You phone another friend and suddenly they’re going away with a very large sum.”

Jeremy takes charge of 1,000 acres for Clarkson’s Farm on June 11 on Amazon.
