I want to ride my bicycle

- By Mark Jefferies

BRIAN May believes cycling has saved his life.

The Queen guitarist “could have died” after a heart attack last May which required surgery.

The 73-year-old was able to get back to health by using his exercise bike and going out cycling.

He said: “After the last tour we did, all around the Far East and Australia and New Zealand I was working out and I was probably the fittest I’d ever been. I was doing biking every morning, I was doing swimming and I’m the one who got sick when I got home.”

Speaking on the Keep Calm and Kerry On podcast, he added: “The first thing I did after I was able, after I started recovering, was get back on the bike and it’s been my saviour.”

Brian – married to EastEnders legend Anita Dobson – has also just had an eye operation. He said:

“I could focus on nothing on the left eye. Now, already,

I can see pretty much perfectly.”
