State-sponsored piracy has no place in our world

BELARUS deserves condemnation for forcing an aircraft to land under the pretext of having a bomb on board, in order to apprehend an outspoken critic of President Alexander Lukashenko’s regime (“UK re-routes planes after ‘state-sponsored hijack’”, May 25).

This was an act of state-sponsored piracy that should have no place whatsoever in this day and age.
