RUPERT AND THE OUTLAWS No 16

-

Getting to his feet Rupert feels his way round the hut. The roof is made of lots of brushwood and though he pulls away a few pieces he cannot make a way of escape. Then he pushes on the door with no better result. The sound of the men’s voices has faded, showing that they have moved away some distance. As he pauses there is a new noise much nearer, little scrapings and snuffings, and all at once a puff of dust appears by a low hole in one of the walls.
