ALAN’S TIP OF THE DAY:

Clematis montana does not normally need pruning but if plants look a tad tatty, give them a light tidy-up when they finish flowering. If you have a rampant plant that’s got out of control, this is also a good time to cut it back hard to rejuvenate it.
