GREAT Britain suffered world championship heartache yesterday with just 25 seconds of sudden death overtime left.
They were crushed by a late goal to go down 3-2 to Denmark but lifted themselves off the bottom of the Group A table at Riga, Latvia, with a consolation point.
Skipper Jonathan Phillips, winning his 100th cap, said: “We are devastated.”
Ben Lake laid on the chance for Mike Hammond to level at 2-2 but had two spells in the sinbin, the Danes scoring twice while GB were a man down.
Ben O’Connor had put GB ahead after three minutes.
