Julia: Give thanks and muck in with litter pick
TV HOST Julia Bradbury has urged Britons to give thanks for the comfort of our environment in lockdown by tidying up the neighbourhood.
The former Countryfile star joined the Keep Britain Tidy Power Hour campaign, alongside groups including the National Trust, RSPB and Forestry England.
Its hour of litter picking is on July 4, designated Thank You Day – a chance to see that everyone who deserves a thank you gets one.
It is also a way of showing gratitude to green spaces so many Britons say helped them through the pandemic.
Keep Britain Tidy ambassador Julia, 50, yesterday said: “Since Covid hit…we have relied on our parks and green spaces for so much – places to escape to, exercise in and to take a break from the daily round of virtual meetings.
“The kids have run off steam in our treasured parks and they have become our escape when we need somewhere to simply sit quietly.” She said the hour, from 11am, is a chance to say thanks to “our green spaces and parks and to our local communities”.
Michael Seddon, chief executive at Forestry England, said: “We are delighted to support Thank You Day – a fantastic opportunity to give thanks to the people, services and spaces that have helped us through lockdown.”
