The mother of all stupid and pointless demands

AS A mother and grandmother I take great exception to a proposed ban on the word mother (“Ban the word ‘mother’, says LGBT charity”, June 5). I would like to know just where we draw the line on Stonewall’s demands.

When you have carried a child for nine months and gone through the birth you have earned the right to be called mother, or mum.

Why don’t they call themselves “parent” and let those that want to be called mother have the right to do so?

Will it soon be that we will not be able to say father, or dad? When on earth are people going to stop making demands for change?
