UK ‘excited’ to work with Israel’s PM
ISRAEL yesterday woke up to a new government and prime minister after Naftali Bennett ousted long-time leader Benjamin Netanyahu.
Boris Johnson joined world leaders in congratulating Mr Bennett, 49.
He said: “This is an exciting time for the UK and Israel to continue working together to advance peace and prosperity for all.”
Mr Bennett won by a single vote as his coalition ended Mr Netanyahu’s 12-year rule – the longest ever reign in Israel.
As opposition leader, “Benji” will “fight this dangerous and horrible” power, an aide said.
