RISK OF STATINS
STATINS can more than double the risk of dementia for some users, says research.
The fat-busting pills are one of the most commonly prescribed drugs to reduce the risk of a heart attack or stroke.
But a study shows those with mild cognitive impairment taking lipophilic-type statins more than double their risk of dementia. Researcher Dr Prasanna Padmanabham of the University of California said: “Findings could be used to inform which statin would be most optimal to use.”
