My friend Diana would’ve warned Harry off Oprah
PRINCESS Diana would have advised her son Harry not to do an interview with Oprah Winfrey, according to a close friend and confidante.
Dr James Colthurst, the Princess’s pal for 20 years, said: “I believe she might have cautioned him beforehand to solve things in some other way.”
Harry and his wife Meghan used the US TV show to accuse the royals of racism, being financially cut off and claim Meghan’s mental health problems were ignored at the Palace.
The Old Etonian said:
“I’m not sure Harry would have got to the interview stage.” During their friendship, Dr Colthurst allegedly helped Diana tell her story, acting as a gobetween to author Andrew Morton, for his best-selling book Diana: Her True Story.
And he backed Prince William’s demand that Diana’s infamous Martin Bashir Panorama interview from 1995 be permanently shelved. He told this week’s Radio Times: “It was created in a devious fashion, and I don’t think it needed to be that way. So yes, it should be put away.”
