Farah’s last-gasp bid for Olympics

-

MO FARAH will make an 11th-hour attempt to qualify for the Olympics at next week’s British Athletics Championships in Manchester.

The four-time Olympic champion needs to better 27min 28secs for the 10,000m to qualify and defend his title from 2012 and 2016.

Farah clocked 27:50.64 on June 5 at the British 10,000m

Championships in Birmingham, right, to finish eighth in his first 10k race since quitting the track in 2017 to focus on the marathon – but still backed himself to qualify.

“It will take courage to be able to go out there and mix it with the guys,” he said, after his first 10,000m defeat in a decade. “If I knuckle down and get this little [ankle] niggle out the way, we should be all right.”

Farah, 38, has now recovered from that ankle problem, but the Manchester race on

June 25 will be his last chance – the Olympic deadline is June 27.
