Pretty looks a stunner for Coronation
Joseph’s filly has all the royal credentials
AFTER a troubled training preparation
PRETTY GORGEOUS (4.20, nap, ITV) is now ready to show her true colours in today’s Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Connections had hoped to have lined up in the QIPCO 1,000 Guineas but she returned a bad scope.
Joseph O’Brien’s filly ran a respectable race in the Irish Guineas when seventh behind Empress Josephine.
O’Brien reports the filly to have thrived since that outing and believes the three-year-old is his best chance of celebrating Royal Ascot success for the first time.
Last season Pretty Gorgeous stamped herself as one the best fillies in training when beating Indigo Girl at Newmarket, with the 1,000 Guineas winner Mother Earth in third.
SANDRINE (2.30, treble, ITV), who had dual winner Oscula behind her in third place when successful at Kempton last month, can take the opening Albany Stakes.
She can only improve from that outing and her trainer Andrew Balding has his team in cracking form.
Having beaten the Derby winner Adayar at Sandown in April,
ALENQUER (3.05, nb, ITV) cannot be opposed in the King EdwardVII Stakes.
After a disappointing first run of the season
SUPREMACY (3.40, ITV) is expected to bounce back in the Commonwealth Cup.
The colt, blinkered for the first time today, took a notable scalp in Lucky Vega, the second and third home in the Irish and QIPCO 2,000 Guineas, when successful at Newmarket last season.
After celebrating his first Royal Ascot victory with Oxted on Tuesday, Cieren Fallon can enjoy more success with
BELIEF (5.00, ITV).
The filly rocketed home at Thirsk earlier in the month and looks an improver on a favourable handicap mark.
After performing against some of the best,
TYSON FURY (5.35, ITV) will appreciate this drop in grade.
A repeat of his penultimate run when fourth behind Al Aasy, the Coronation Cup runner-up, at Newbury last month gives him a cracking chance.
BOOMSHALAA (6.10, ITV) can make it three wins on the bounce in the Palace Of Holyroodhouse Stakes.
