Harvested at night in Chile’s Casablanca Valley region to maintain acidity, this white wine is intensely aromatic with a long, bright finish. Fabulous citrus aromas jostle with more subtle floral undertones. Available from Ocado.

2 Vidal Sauvignon Blanc 2019 (£9.95, 13%)

Tropical fruit aromas (gooseberry to the fore) introduce a palate of passionfruit and a crisp, lively acidity. This is a typically classy white from New Zealand’s Marlborough region. Available from Cheers Wine Merchant.

3 L’Aure Sauvignon Blanc (£9.50, 12%)

Perhaps the most straightforward of the bunch. Grapes grown in the shadow of the Pyrenees have been used to create this French white ablaze with green apple flavours, and subtle herbal and floral aromas. Very nice indeed. Available from Corney & Barrow. 4

Kleine Zalze Cellar Selection Sauvignon Blanc 2019 (£10.99, 13%)

Another fabulously fruity Sauvignon Blanc, this time from South Africa’s Stellenbosch region and oozing white peaches and a citrus zest countered with herby aromas. Available from Wholefoods and SAhouseofwine.co.uk

6 Yalumba Organic Sauvignon Blanc (£10, 12.5%)

Bursting with tropical fruit and citrus zest, the organic wines from South Australian producer Yalumba are delicious and this Sauvignon Blanc is no exception. The Co-op has been building a super reputation for its wines, and rightly so. This can only enhance it further. Available from The Co-op.
