Gear up for a staycation
It may seem incredible, yet many of us haven’t holidayed at home for some time as we’re so used to slinging some swimmers, shorts and flip-flops in a case and heading to the airport.
This year, of course, things are dramatically different so we’ve teamed up with outdoor clothing specialists Craghoppers who have helpful tips when it comes to planning a staycation.
What to pack
The great thing is, there is no luggage allowance when holidaying at home. But you may not have thought of the obvious:
Invest in some Packing Cubes so you can divide up items such as smalls, T-shirts, trousers etc.
Don’t forget the sunscreen, even on cloudier days, as you’ll be exposed to harmful rays.
Books or a Kindle. This is the time to kick back and get into a good thriller or two.
Family games and/or pack of cards for family evenings.
Eye mask. Sometimes in strange surroundings, the room/ tent/caravan may not as dark as your room at home.
Waterproof jacket. Essential kit given Britain’s weather.
Walking boots or shoes – you’ll need something sturdy for those rambling excursions.
Rucksack. Ideal for carrying essentials when out and about.
What to do on a staycation
The best holidays at home are the perfect mix of relaxation and exploration. Mornings may see you walking on the beach or hiking, while refuelling in a cafe or snuggled up on a sofa, with a book in the afternoon. There many are other things worth considering...
Where you can, shop in local stores, eat in local restaurants and cafés, try out local activities. Check out things to see in advance of leaving home.
Explore the area. From walking through the countryside to strolling through town and down the beach.
Go hiking. Whether you’re an outdoorsy person or not, a hike is a great way to take in the fresh air, get some exercise and feel a sense of accomplishment.
Go to a local attraction or theme park – both are perfect for families.
