Bank staff get fertility treatment
THOUSANDS of workers at NatWest and British Gas will benefit from discounted fertility treatments such as IVF and sperm freezing.
The state-backed bank is offering its 59,000 staff price cuts of up to 20 per cent depending on the treatment.
Asma Ali, a senior banker who set up the scheme, said: “Having gone through fertility issues and miscarriages, I know how this impacts people. It can be a very lonely time.”
Centrica, owner of British Gas, offers its 18,500 staff fertility support as well as menopause consultations.
Hortense Thorpe, who founded Centrica’s Fertility Group, said: “Nine out of 10 people affected by such issues suffer depression, and I certainly felt it.”
Bank Monzo, John Lewis and Channel 4 are among those to have established new pregnancy loss, egg freezing or IVF treatment policies.
