Knock at the door for dodgy bingo pair

- By Jan Disley

TWO greedy cashiers who stole more than £183,000 from the bingo hall where they worked, sobbed in the dock as they were jailed.

Jorun Chang, 58, and Jeanette Warrilow, 59, collected cash from customers for Pavilion Bingo Club in Liverpool.

But for years they only logged some of it – and were nailed when a manager spotted takings were higher than usual when the two friends were away on holiday.

Cheryl Mottram, prosecuting at Liverpool Crown Court, said using the lowest estimates, Warrilow stole £83,500 and Chang took £99,900.They admitted theft earlier this year.

Recorder Ian Unsworth QC said the pair, both locals, risked up to 30 jobs by stealing when the company was operating at a loss.

Branding them greedy, he jailed Chang for 16 months and Warrilow for 12 months.
