Park: We’ll lead on integrity, if not medals
BRITISH CYCLING boss Stephen Park sends his riders to Tokyo insisting: “We have a responsibility to win with integrity.”
He will commit maximum emphasis to riding clean after the Dr Richard Freeman case left the reputation of British cycling in tatters.
The former British Cycling and Team Sky doctor was struck off by the General Medical Council for trying to cover up an order for banned testosterone gel. Performance director Park, right, said: “I’m wholly committed to us winning in the right way.
“We have a responsibility to lead the sport and to do that with integrity. We want to be inspiring.
We want the whole country to be proud to be British.”
But Park played down the chances of Team GB repeating their success in the velodrome at the past three Games. “It probably is unrealistic to think we will be dominant again,” he said. “The margins we had in the past will be somewhat eroded.”
