Shaqiri’s market value is soaring

-

XHERDAN SHAQIRI rescued Switzerland’s Euros with two goals – and added to his Liverpool transfer value.

The playmaker produced a brilliant effort to leave Turkey pointless, netting a cracker with his weaker foot.

A second crisp finish followed after the break.

Shaqiri is out of favour at Anfield and could be sold by Jurgen Klopp to raise funds.

And his double here will attract plenty of interest.

He kept up his record of scoring in the past four major championships and it should be enough to grab a third-placed spot in the last 16.

He has netted seven times at the past two World Cups and two Euros.

Shaqiri said: “The first with my right was very good technique – and we needed to win. We reacted so well to the previous games to keep us going.”

Haris Seferovic scored with Switzerland’s first attack and Shaqiri added a second before 26 minutes were up.

Benfica striker Seferovic took advantage of the Turks backing off and drilled in a low shot from distance.

Then Shaqiri collected Seferovic’s pass, skipped to the right into space and curled his shot in giving goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir no chance.

Turkey clawed one back, thanks to Irfan Can Kahveci, who curled a left-footed shot home. But Shaqiri scored again in the 68th minute to earn Steve Zuber a hat-trick of assists.
