Happy meal, Dame Helen?

- By Jan Disley

HANDS off my chips! Acting goddess Helen Mirren’s look is enough to keep the greediest dining companion’s hands at bay.

The star tucked into a burger and fries on the set of her new film – but anyone would think she had been served up a snappy meal.

The Oscar-winning star is playing a baddie in Shazam! Fury of the Gods as Hespera, the daughter of Atlas.

Dame Helen, 75, enjoyed her fast-food fix with US co-star Zachary

Levi, 40, who was on his best behaviour.

Zach has the title role in the superhero movie and he seemed undaunted by Helen’s back catalogue of brilliant work as he chatted with her on set.

Dame Helen looked imperious in a leather tunic, bronze breastplate and imposing headgear.

Her white-blonde hair, styled long, is curled in a ringlet around one shoulder and a sword attached to her belt. It’s not the first time The Queen star has played the villain.

She was enchantress Morgana le Fay in John Boorman’s Excalibur in 1981, one of her early standout roles.

In a recent interview Dame Helen said it would be “fun” to do it again. She said: “I actually haven’t played a lot of villains. I think Hespera in Shazam might be the first one I’ve played!”

The movie – being shot on location in Atlanta, Georgia – is a sequel to Shazam!, based on the DC Comics character.

Shazam stands for Solomon’s wisdom, Hercules’ strength, Atlas’s stamina, Zeus’s power, Achilles’ courage, and Mercury’s speed. He is the alter ego of teen Billy Batson, who turns into a superhuman adult by saying the magic word. The film is due out in June 2023.
