Time we all woke up to PC nonsense

-

ST PAUL’S Girls’ School has decided to abolish the term “head girl” because it is too binary but its name apparently isn’t. It is time for a lesson in logic, especially as its head goes by the quaint title of High Mistress. It is reported that staff recently underwent training to recognise 150 gender identities. This nonsense will not stop until sensible people get up off their posteriors and take action.

Ikea, Nivea and other big companies, which bowed to the woke and withdrew advertising from GB News, would have gone on doing so but for the massive backlash. They are now backtracking, protesting that it was only because they had not had time to evaluate the channel.

Unfortunately, before Ikea produced that excuse its spokesman had already sold the pass by talking about “humanistic values”.To which an avalanche of ripostes pointed to that company’s outlets in Saudi Arabia, where women are second-class citizens and the penalty for homosexuality is death.

CUSTOMERS have power because companies like our money so I will throw in my own tiny contribution and never buy Nivea again (sadly I had ordered three pots a few days before the story broke!).

I cannot threaten to boycott Ikea because I would never go there anyway. But if everybody who believes in free speech takes a similar stand then the cumulative impact will cause companies to beware of kneejerk kowtowing to the “woke”.

We do not need to stage demonstrations or marches when we can just withdraw our custom while telling the companies why we are doing so.

It is within the power of everyone to take a stand, which brings me back to St.Paul’s, a fee-paying school. Some parents of the metropolitan elite variety are quite likely to accept there are 150 genders and others will feel the school’s huge academic record outweighs the nonsense it is now spouting.

But if only a handful of parents takes action, that will cause a pause for thought and perhaps pave the way for a return of common sense.

I NEVER did think that “Liberation Day” would come this month. Boris must be the most risk-averse Prime Minister of my lifetime. He talks bullishly and cowers cravenly, where once it was he who showed courage while others hesitated. I now doubt that he will ever become Tigger again as he seems trapped in eternal Eeyoredom.
