Farmer Clarkson’s ‘sorry’ for causing traffic chaos

- By Ashleigh Rainbird

JEREMY Clarkson has apologised to irate residents who called police after fans queuing for his Diddly Squat farm shop gridlocked the area.

Viewers queued for up to three hours to visit the star’s produce emporium, where he is known to chat to customers and pose for photos.

Their cars caused such terrible jams that police were called to the farm in the Cotswolds – with locals branding him “arrogant and egotistic”.

He later admitted “it was our mistake” that crowds swarmed to the area after his new show Clarkson’s Farm became an Amazon Prime hit.

It follows the millionaire presenter and his girlfriend Lisa Hogan trying to make a living from the 1,000-acre site he bought in 2008.

Clarkson wrote online: “People of Chadlington. I’m truly sorry about the traffic around our farm shop last weekend. We are doing everything we can to improve the situation.”

He told one follower the deli – where long queues also formed – should have been made bigger in readiness for the interest.

Diddly Squat’s shop sells honey, milk, jam – and even a candle called This Smells Like My B ******* inspired by Gwyneth Paltrow’s wax range. But locals fumed that he “could not care less about the community” and one raged: “Such a shame he has decided to call this his home.”

In a local Facebook group one user remarked: “Emergency services wouldn’t be able to get through if needed.” Thames Valley Police said: “Officers received reports in relation to congestion on the roads in Chadlington.

“Officers attended the scene, but no crime had been committed. Our neighbourhood team for the area is aware of the situation.”
