Paddy heads TV sport quiz
PADDY McGuinness has spoken of his pride after replacing Sue Barker as host of A Question of Sport.
The Top Gear host is joining the iconic BBC show – first broadcast back in 1970 – along with Olympic hockey gold medalist Sam Quek, 32, and Lions rugby star Ugo Monye, 38, the new team captains.
Paddy, 47, said: “I love the competitive nature of sports stars coupled with having a laugh. That’s whyA Question of Sport has always been one of my favourite shows. Having been weaned on it from an early age this is an honour and opportunity I’m certainly not taking lightly.”
Sam said she was delighted to be the “first female captain in the show’s history”. She added: “This is my dream job.”
The BBC announced 10 months ago it was ending the 24-year stint of Ms Barker, who took over from David Coleman in 1997.
Previous captains Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell were also let go as part of the major shake-up at the show.
