The Battle of Britain... what’s that?

MILLIONS of children have no idea what the Battle of Britain was or how many wives HenryVIII had.

A poll tested children 14 and under on various aspects of history.

Six in 10 did not know HenryVIII had six wives, 36 per cent thought Alexander the Great was fictional, more than half did not know Romans spoke Latin and a third were unfamiliar with the Battle of Britain.The poll of 1,000 children was commissioned to mark two new books in the Adventures In Time series aimed at children.

Author Dominic Sandbrook said: “It’s sad so many children today are effectively cut off from their own history.”
