Music: The British Invasion: Dusty Springfield, Sky Arts, 7pm
A celebration of Dusty Springfield (left), who rose to fame with hits including The Look Of Love, Son Of A Preacher Man, You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me and I Only Want To Be With You. One of Britain’s most successful female singers of the 1960s, Springfield was best known for her distinctive mezzo-soprano vocals and dramatic ballads. Here, friends’ fond recollections are mixed with archive footage of the star’s captivating performances.
Music: Louis Armstrong In Concert, BBC4, 11pm
One of the most influential figures in jazz, Louis Armstrong (above) first came to prominence in the 1920s as an inventive trumpet and cornet player before making a name for himself as a skilled vocalist. He helped to shift the focus of the genre during a career that spanned five decades. First aired in 2001 on the centenary of his birth, this show features a stage performance from the legendary musician.
Travel: Epic Wales: Valleys, Mountains & Coasts, C4, 8pm
New series. Wales’s three national parks are not just a playground for tourists and adventurers, but are also home to more than 80,000 people. This first episode focuses on individuals including upland sheep and cattle farmer Rhodri Jones (left, with son Will), who has lived near Bala on the southern side of Snowdonia National Park for 43 years. With lambing looming, an unexpected April snowfall on the mountain makes caring for his pregnant ewes even more difficult. Meanwhile, in the seaside town of Dale, at the western tip of the Pembrokeshire coast, fisherman Mark Gainfort embarks on his first outing of the season.
Film: Kingsman: The Secret Service, Film4, 9pm
Spy adventure starring Colin Firth (above, middle), Samuel L Jackson and Taron Egerton. Gary “Eggsy” Unwin lives in a housing estate with his mother and her abusive boyfriend and seems headed for a live behind bars. However, dapper agent Harry Hart sees potential in Eggsy and recruits him to join a top-secret organisation. But even before he’s earned his stripes, Eggy’s pitched into a battle to save the planet.
Documentary: Being Freddie Mercury: Under Pressure, C5, 9pm
Psychiatrist Dr Bob Johnson and those who knew the Queen frontman best endeavour to uncover the disparity between what people think they know about Freddie (right) and who he really was. This 90-minute documentary takes a look at the singer’s unconventional lifestyle and builds a psychological picture of the man who came into this world as Farrokh Bulsara, but left it as the iconic and unforgettable Freddie Mercury.
