SHOULD THERE BE A CAP ON FOOTBALL TRANSFER FEES?

-

Yes

THE money shelled out on people just because they are good at kicking a ball around became obscene a long time ago, but now it has hit a new high – or should that be low (“I’m all right, Jack...Grealish to be England’s first £100m footballer”, August 5). Jack Grealish is a very good player and strikes me as being an honest, likeable lad, but it is time we put a stop to these ridiculous transfer fees and absolutely huge wages for footballers.

It would take me six years to earn what he is going to get in a week. Rod Elliott,

No

HAVE people moaning about high transfer fees and wages in football never heard of supply and demand?

If you need some sausages and the local shop asks for £10 a packet, you have the right to say no.

But if you want them badly enough you will pay the tenner. I am sure Manchester City think they will more than get their money back on Jack Grealish in trophies, shirt sales and season tickets. Nobody is twisting their arm but at £230k a week in wages, he’ll be able to afford lots of sausages. Joan Williamson,

Manchester
