Caravan girl was strangled
A 15-YEAR-old schoolgirl allegedly murdered by her brother at a caravan park died after being strangled, an inquest heard yesterday.
Teenager Amanda Selby was found dead at the Ty Mawr Holiday Park in Towyn, near Abergele, Conwy county, on July 31.
Last Wednesday her brother Matthew Selby, 19, of Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, appeared at Mold Crown
Court charged with her murder.
Yesterday an inquest was opened in Ruthin, Denbighshire. Home Office pathologist Dr Brian Rodgers said she died from asphyxia, as a result of neck compression, external airway obstruction and crush asphyxia.
Coroner John Gittins said police were alerted by the ambulance service after they were called to an unconscious girl who had stopped breathing.
Amanda was declared dead by paramedics at 4.15pm.The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed, pending further investigation.
