Lukaku’s in, Abraham out

- By Paul Brown

ROMELU LUKAKU’S club record move to Chelsea will clear the way for Tammy Abraham to quit the club.

But the Chelsea striker’s move to Arsenal is in doubt because the Blues would rather sell him abroad.

Lukaku underwent the first part of his medical yesterday in Italy ahead of a £97.5million transfer from Inter Milan. He is expected in London to sign a five-year deal worth £200,000 a week and complete the rest of his checks.

The Belgium star, left, will not arrive in time to take part in Chelsea’s Super Cup final tomorrow with Europa League

holders Villarreal in Belfast – but he could play in his new club’s Premier League opener at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Inter wanted a replacement signed before giving Lukaku’s transfer the green light, and they have now agreed terms with Roma’s Edin Dzeko, formerly of Manchester City.

That deal would free up Roma to move for Abraham, who has also attracted interest from West Ham and Atalanta.

But Champions League winners Chelsea believe the 23-year-old wants to join Arsenal.

The Gunners want to do a deal, although the Blues do not want to strengthen their London rivals.

Abraham’s £40m asking price remains a sticking point for all interested parties.

Former Manchester United striker Lukaku, 28, will be rejoining the club he left for Everton in a £28m deal in 2014.
