Island’s in my dream...and yard
OSCAR Stretch loves living on the Isle of Wight so much that he created a replica of it in his back garden.
The former landlord, 77, has only left the island once since 1969 and “hated every bloody minute of it”. So he spent six months crafting a “boring patch of grass” into a glorious tribute – honouring its shape and landmarks like The Needles from rocks. Oscar, who lives in Sandown, spent £100 on plants and £900 on other materials, including 800 bricks and 11 tons of dirt.
He said: “I’m over the moon with it. I’m a bloody islander!”
