Our troops had to leave at some point, why not now?

OH IT’S so easy for Stephen Pollard to say we should not have pulled out of Afghanistan but he gives no opinion as to when we can (“Shameful cut and run puts safety of us all at risk”,August 17).

It is no good spending millions teaching and rearming the Afghan army since they refuse to fight once the foreign troops have left.

Not so long ago there were demonstrations calling for the removal of troops, now all of a sudden people like Mr Pollard think we should have stayed until goodness knows when.
