PERSIMMON BUILDS ON HOUSING BOOM

-

THE housing market is showing no signs of slowing down, says Persimmon.

The UK’s second-biggest home builder said its firsthalf forward sales are £2.23billion, nine per cent up on 2019 before Covid.

Its private sales are 20 per cent higher than they were prior to the outbreak.

Housing has been supported by the stamp duty holiday, cheap loans and people seeking bigger places. However, there are fears the market will cool as the holiday is phased out.

Revenues leapt from £1.2billion to £1.84billion, while pre-tax profits shot up 64.2 per cent to £480.1million.

Boss Dean Finch called the results “robust”.
