Nice to see that Kelly’s Eye is as sharp as ever

FERGUS Kelly yet again hits the nail on the head (“Summer recess? Give it a rest”,August 18).

Last summer when we were in the midst of the first Covid wave, and again this year, the Commons did not feel it necessary to suspend its summer recess.

Yet when it finally woke up to what was happening in Afghanistan members were recalled to debate something they now have no control over.

As for our Foreign Secretary, if Iain Duncan Smith was the quiet man of politics, Dominic Raab must surely be the invisible man.

Keep up the good work, Fergus. Your sharp insights are always bang on the money.
