Macron hypocrisy laid bare over treatment of women

SOME European governments, like the French government which legislates to oppress hijab-wearing Muslim women, hence deny them access to education, work and sports, are now worried about the rights of women under Taliban rule in Afghanistan (“Macron urges for change to EU migration scheme as Afghanistan crisis continues”, August 17).

In his televised address earlier this week, the French President Emmanuel Macron sounded awkward calling on the Taliban to uphold Afghan people’s right to live in security and respect. He was particularly concerned about women.What a paradox!
