Tufan bridges the Watford gap

- By Jason Mellor

OZAN TUFAN has been backed to prove a big hit at Watford.

But he faces a wait to make his Premier League debut after becoming the Hornets’ 10th summer signing.

The Fenerbahce midfielder, who has 63 caps for Turkey, has arrived on a season-long loan, and manager Xisco Munoz wants more signings.

Munoz said: “It’s a really good addition to our squad. We’ve signed a good player with great experience.

“There could be one or two more to come in.”

Watford travel to Brighton tomorrow looking to build on their 3-2 opening-day victory over Aston Villa.

Tufan, 26, said: “It’s great to be here and I’m looking to do big things in the best league in the world.” But fans will have to wait to get their first glimpse of the midfielder.

Munoz said: “He won’t come into consideration for Brighton. We’ll see for the next game.”

The future of Will Hughes and Nathaniel Chalobah is in the air after talks on new deals stalled.

Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Newcastle are interested in Hughes, who is in the last 12 months of his agreement.
