This 103-year-old classic is one of the country’s most popular tourist attractions and a must-see in the lovely harbour city.

At 2,769ft long, it rises 991ft from the bottom terminus, which is a short walk from the fish market stalls.

There’s a shop, cafe and fancy restaurant at the top, along with excellent views. Many visitors get the train up and walk back down the zigzag paths through the woods, which takes around an hour. ■■More info: floyen.no/en/floibanen/
