The Kiwis’ only running funicular rises 394ft from Lambton Quay in the heart of the charming capital to Kelburn on a 2,008ft track which opened in 1902.

At the top, there’s a museum, easy access to the city’s beautiful botanic garden and lovely views across Wellington Harbour.
