Concern over £30bn takeover
NVIDIA’S £30billion takeover of UK computer-chip maker ARM raises “serious competition concerns” and needs investigating, according to the Competition & Mergers Authority.
The UK watchdog, which started investigating the deal in January, said US company Nvidia could restrict rivals’ access to ARM’s technology, which is used in smartphones, computers and tablets, and stifle innovation.
CMA chief executive Andrea Coscelli said: “This could end up with consumers missing out on new products, or prices going up.”
