MO’S LEGENDARY THIRST FOR RECORDS

- By Chris McKenna

JURGEN KLOPP says he does not need to motivate Mo Salah by telling him he can become an Anfield legend. The Liverpool manager believes the forward is fired up by breaking records.

Salah, 29, became the first player in the Premier

FIRST-CLASS: Salah set a Premier best League to score on five consecutive opening weekends with his strike at Norwich last week.

He is just two shy of 100 top-flight goals after only 159 appearances.

“Sure, he is aware of all these things but he is fine,” said Klopp. “The records he has broken already are absolutely insane. He can set records in assists as well, so just being around the goal situation – that’s Mo Salah. And I am really happy if he stays like this.

“But I never told him he could be one of the 1-2-3 biggest LFC legends ever because that is not what you go for.

“Records yes, but as for becoming a legend, people will judge you after your career. That’s fine. He is in a good mood and, hopefully, it can stay like this.”

Klopp may be concerned about the aerial threat of Burnley today as he voiced what he perceived to be a lack of protection for Bernd Leno when Brentford scored against Arsenal last week.

He said: “I thought the goalie would be protected differently to other players in the six-yard box. That is the goalie area.”
