LEVI STRIKES AFTER HOGG ROCKET

-

LEVI COLWILL revealed how his stoppage-time winner in Huddersfield’s 2-1 victory at Sheffield United came after an ear-bashing from skipper Jonathan Hogg. Town’s on-loan Chelsea defender grabbed his first senior goal as he calmly fired home Harry Toffolo’s cross moments after getting a talking to from Hogg. Colwill, 18, left with Hogg, said: “Just before I scored, the skipper had a go at me and told me I should have won a header, so I was thinking to myself I need to make things right.”

Josh Koroma had put the Terriers in front but Billy Sharp came off the bench to level from close range two minutes into injury time before Colwill stole the veteran striker’s thunder at the death.

Scott Hogan did not mind being substitute after scoring twice in Birmingham’s 5-0 win at Luton – because he had the scoring bug.

Manager Lee Bowyer denied him the chance of a hat-trick by taking him off with half an hour to go. But Hogan said: “I didn’t let on to the gaffer and he might shout at me now but I had been really unwell.

“I didn’t sleep a wink the night before and felt terrible. I didn’t want to come off after 60 minutes on two goals but I had nothing left.”

Nottingham Forest fans called for manager Chris Hughton to be sacked after a 1-0 loss at Stoke made it a four straight defeats.

Hughton said: “There’s been a big turnaround in terms of recruitment, the squad are a lot younger, we lost 11 players at the end of last season and we need to bring in numbers.” Josh Tymon’s first senior goal kept the Potters unbeaten after four matches. Coventry’s Matty Godden sealed a 2-1 win against Reading with a goal in the eighth minute of added time in his first match at the CBS Arena.

John Swift opened the scoring for the visitors but Jamie Allen levelled before fellow substitute Godden’s strike. Godden said: “It’s what dreams are made of, making my debut at the CBS Arena. To see it go in – the roar was deafening.”
