My Karlie lost her life of fun
A FATHER spoke out after 20 years in a tribute to his daughter who died at 9/11.
Keith Rogers said Karlie was denied a life of “adventure, love, laughter, fun”.
Salvage workers were unable to find the remains of the sponsorship manager who had flown to New York to organise a conference on the North Tower’s 106th floor.
Her family later raised funds to support 9/11 emergency crews, and babies at the Yeovil hospital where she was born.
Keith, 70, of Street, Somerset, said he plans to meet other families at the remembrance event and laugh about the “marvellous times we had with her.We will stand silently and realise again that Karlie and those times are gone, gone forever, and we will all shed tears.
Adventure
“She was just starting out on a life that should have been filled with adventure, love, laughter, fun and undoubtedly the patter of little footsteps.”
Karlie, 26, who had a degree in German from the University of Sussex, was “madly in love” with boyfriendWill who saw her off at Heathrow: “He was never to see her again. Never to share that life with her.”
Keith said of Karlie, who also left older sister Kirstie and her mother Julia: “She inadvertently saved one man’s life that morning, politely turning him away [from the conference] as he attempted to enter without a ticket.
“He now calls her his guardian angel. He and his wife and their two lovely daughters are eternally grateful.”
Keith posted his tribute on a memorial website, adding: “Fly high our lovely girl.
“Your family, friends and the rest of the world have been robbed of 20 years of your beauty, mischievousness and just downright fun and love.”
