CULTURE SECRETARY OLIVER DOWDEN described Raducanu’s march to the final as the “crowning glory” after a summer of British sporting successes. He said: “It is wonderful, isn’t it? It seems a lifetime ago but we [the England men’s team] got through to the final of the Euros, we came second in the Paralympics and fourth in the Olympics. Whatever happens, and I’m sure Emma will do brilliantly in the final, this really is the crowning glory of a brilliant summer of British sport, and we are so proud of her.”
