Johnson in £650bn job boost
BORIS Johnson will today reveal £650billion infrastructure investment that will support 425,000 jobs a year for the next four years.
Some £89billion will help communities including 165 education projects such as major rebuilding work at schools and colleges.
Mr Johnson, who is meeting apprentices in the Midlands today with Chancellor Rishi Sunak, said: “From entry level roles and post-university careers, we are creating jobs this country needs to build back better.”
Mr Sunak said: “We put a plan in place to protect jobs and businesses in their hour of need and I am immensely proud to say that it is working.”
Meanwhile, the Government said the furlough scheme had so far cost £68.5billion and helped 11.6 million people, including protecting 910,000 jobs in Scotland, 470,000 in Wales and nearly 290,000 in Northern Ireland.
