Regal tender’s £430k
A COLLECTION of 220 17th-century British coins has emerged for sale for £430,000.
The auction’s star lot is a three-pound Charles I Triple Unite coin, valued at £50,000, which was struck in 1643 during the English Civil War and used as propaganda against the Puritan cause.
A 1656 Cromwell 20 shillings coin valued at £20,000 is also included in the Dix Noonan Webb sale on September 22.
