Knee-ups Salsa basics

With legs relaxed, step back with one foot, tap the front foot, then bring them together. Then step forwards with the same foot, tap the back foot, and then bring them together. Relax your hips and arms into the movement as you get into it. Do this for one minute.

Standing straight, bring one knee up at a time, crunching it up as high as you can. Alternate sides.

Think single, single, double – on every third knee-up crunch it up twice without it touching back down on the floor. Do this for one minute.

Pendulum swings

While hopping lightly on your feet, swing one leg out to the side.

Bring it back to the centre, and swap sides. Try holding your legs out for both single and double hops. Keep going for one minute.

Leg stretch

Standing straight, bring your foot up towards your bottom and take hold of it.

Keeping your knees together, hold the stretch for five seconds. Repeat on the other side.
